Kailash Youth Hostal- Kathmandu, Nepal

Kailash Youth Hostal is one of my many charities Tout Le Monde aspires to help rasie money for.
The profits from Tout Le Monde's Movie Night are going to the hostal to help its children, and overall give them a better life. But many people dontate to several charities without knowing a thing about them. So heres and overview of the Hostal, and all the reasons why we should keep on supporting them.

The Kailash Hostel is operated by the Himalayan Children’s Foundation (HCF), a Nepali charitable organization, registered with the Nepali Government, providing education and general care to underprivileged children.

Kailash Hostel was established in part to bring children closer to quality schools so they could continue their education and take their knowledge back to their villages. The children attend three different schools, chosen by the age group. The schools are separate from the hostel but the hostel helps the children in their studying providing tutoring and extra-circular activites for them to expand their horizons. The overall standard of performance of the children is well above average: 13% of them received grades of 80% and higher. (40% is considered a passing grade in Nepal.). Last year, all of the children moved up into their next class. Credit for this achievement also goes to the staff of the Kailash Hostel. The progress of each child is closely monitored.
AKIS's Internationl Award Gold students actually visited this hostal, they helped them by: digging out pipes, and cleanig out a water tank. Now these chilren have a fresh running water supply. Some of the gold students even built a mosaic with deaf hostal residents in an attempt to get to know them better.
The majority of the children do very well on their own and relish the chance to learn. This is because these children have been given a shot at a brighter future!

TLM Charity Movie Night

Tout Le Monde is hosting a charity movie night!!
The Proceeds will go towards funding Kailash youth hostel, located in Kathmandu, Nepal. The money will be used to help maintain the hostel with help from the International Award Gold students, who will be travelling to Nepal later this year. Please do come, support the children of Nepal, and donate to this cause!

Tout Le Monde recognises this as an important reason for fundraising. As a result we would like to raise as much money as possible, so in addition to the charity movie night we have considered hosting a soap football tournament. This would involve a small team entry fee, and then a tournament that would take place on the popular soap football field commonly used during the Eid celebrations at Waha.

PLEASE COMMENT~either to this blog entry or leave any questions you may have on our Facbook page:~http://www.facebook.com/toutlemondeyo?ref=ts
Would you be interested in a soap football tournament?
Have you got any other ideas concerning how we may raise money for the Nepalese Youth Hostel?

CanItCanItCanItCanItCanItCanItCanItCanItCanIt!

CAN IT!
Yes thats right. I'm sure if you are apart of the 9,500 residents currently living in Al Khor Community then you would have undoubtedly heard of 'Can It'. In fact Project 'Can It' is where the majority of people heard about Tout Le Monde. This is because 'Can It' is our flagship event!

But what exactly IS Project Can It?
Well it was a charity project undertaken in 09'. The human rights wing of the organisation organised a charity drive; which involved the collection of canned foods and/or money donations from the people of Al Khor Community. This was a 4 day event, and all donations were being raised for the gardeners of the community.
Approximately 1,457 homes participated in this gesture purely under the influence of good will and charity.
This massive project required alot of organising, planning and man hours. Tout Le Monde managed the extraordinary feat with the help of 50+ student volunteers and the Al Khor Community management on one day.
In the end the charity drive raised over 20,000 QAR, and raked in over 1500 cans!
Well done to everyone involved!
Of course remembering the fact that the entire operation was organised and ran by youth with no adults overseeing the project.
And of course Tout Le Monde didn't stop there. We were determined to personally present the donations to the gardeners who work in the community and so one week later our volunteers got together to visit the workers accommodation in Al Khor. The whole event went smoothly and the representative from ROTA ( Reach out to Asia) was very impresses with what they saw. The workers were also very grateful concerning the donations.
This was an EXTREMELY successful event which is why we have decided to make it our flagship event, and we hope to maby organise another 'Can It' charity drive soon.

In the mean time this just shows how dedicated TLM is, and how much of their own time they are willing to give in order to make the community we live in a better place.

Recent Management Changes~

As Tout Le Monde has recently completed its frist sucessful year many of our experienced and dedicated mamangment will be leaving us to persure higher education overseas. We wish them the best of luck:
Alyssa Faye (Alfa) Juco - Head of Event Support
Satria Kusuma - Co-President and Treasurer
Deena Omar - Co-President

This has obviously left many gaps within both the Executive Board and Higher Management. So we have come up with fresh new members to fill their shoes.

Congratulations to the new Executive Board & Higher Management~!
